My Sick Day Essentials!

download (3)I have one of these annoying immune systems that can be healthy for the entirety of winter but as soon as the sun appears I get a nasty cold! I am sure I am not alone when I say…man flu is not just a man thing!! I am a nightmare when I am ill, just ask my other half! I am extremely demanding…I make weird dramatic noises and throw my gross tissues everywhere! I am still recovering from said “man flu” and thought I would give you a few words of wisdom to make you feel that tiny bit better!

 

 Getting the balance of work and rest!download (2)

We all have daily commitments, whether that is work or school. Now this is a very new thing to me as I usual retreat to my bed, make a fort and don’t come out until it is all over! This time I have tried working through it. Granted getting up when you feel like rubbish is the hardest thing in the world but you will so much better once you are up and busy. Saying that, i am going to completely contradict myself and say rest is essential! Your body needs time to recover and heal itself. So get the balance right! Whenever you can try and get a nap or an early night!

[Update! I have admitted defeat and I am taking a day off work to rest. The more you rest the quicker you will feel better!]

Now…I am not saying that you smell! I am just saying having a nice hot bath or shower clears your sinuses, opens your pores and makes you feel so much fresher!

 

Gather the essentials!

Before retreating back to your layer grab your essentials. There is nothing worse than getting comfy and realizing you have left something in the other room, which at this point feels like miles away!

  • A drink (preferably water or orange juice) Keep hydrated
  • A snack, you may not feel like eating but its really important
  • Tissues
  • Entertainment e.g the laptop, a book or magazine
  • Medication
  • Lip balm- Prevent the inevitable chapped lips!

 

Keep up with your hygiene routine!

After working in a hospital you would be surprised at how many people refused to wash and change because their poorly! Eiw.

By all means stay in your pj’s all day long, that’s what I do, but change them when you wake up. Put some fresh ones on or wear a hoody and some leggings. The main point is to change into something clean and fresh!

 Keep on top of your skin care routine making sure you apply moisturizer.

Try your hardest not to worry about how much school or work your missing or what needs doing around the house. The more you relax the quicker you will get better.
Also make sure you get lots and lots of sleep!
